Aloha OTDHipHop fam!
Thanks for rocking with us. We got another special Friday Feature this week, my dawg ShaneBoyMusic (aka Vandezo). Although he's been a long-time supporter of underground music and is fairly new to the local music scene, his positive energy and aloha is contagious. He's also pretty comfortable and easy to watch/listen to when he performs, especially for an artist just starting out. He participated in the #otdcypher2020 back in January, and was nominated "Most Unique Entry." Check out his full interview below:
1. What is your artist name?
Aloha! My MC name is Shane Boy / Vandezo (alter ego). 2. What city/state/country are you reppin’? I represent Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744! 3. How old are you? I’m 25 years young. 4. How long have you been creating or making music? When did you start? I’ve felt a special connection with music at a very young age. I used to dance popping routines when I was around 7; in front of my entire family. I remember receiving the feeling of pure joy when I entertained the crowd. When I was about 16 and I was listening to a beat, I wrote a 16 bar verse. That’s sparked my love for becoming a creator of lyrics.
5. What song/video/project are you currently promoting?
Right now I’m still working on recording more, but I do have some songs/remixes/covers on my Soundcloud. I also post freestyles and other stuff on my Instagram (@SHANEBOYMUSIC). 6. What and/or who inspires you to write/create? What inspires me to create is the feeling of expressing myself through my lyrics. I like to listen to beats randomly and see where my mind takes me. I also get inspired by the legends who did it and the ones who still are. When I hear a song and it hits me in a certain way/makes me feel an emotion it inspires me to make an impact like that when I make music. 7. What is your creative process like? My creative process is pretty straight forward. I either create a beat, use someone’s else’s beat, use a YouTube beat/older song beat. I grab a pencil/notebook and I start to write. I been performing in front of my family for years.
8. How often do you perform live? Any upcoming performances?
I recently got into performing live at venues as fill in/practice, joining open mics and cyphers. I had my first official performance this past February 14th Valentines Day at Hawaiian Brian’s titled “ A Journey of Love.” 9. When did you start taking your music career seriously, and why? I started taking my music career seriously this past year 2019. The main reason is I started to believe in myself and I have a circle of friends around me with like-minded aspirations who really helped me to just do it. 10. What do you want people to remember you for? I want people to remember me as a positive person, who spreads Aloha. 11. What is your message? My message is to always believe in yourself and do what you love. 12. How can people find you? Please provide links to all of your social media.

Aloha OTDHipHop fam!
February was a very busy month, packed with 4 shows and I had some homegirls visiting from the bay area. Shout out MPRoyalties for hosting the L4i Music Fest, and Kurbside Worldwide on their latest release party. Today we're back with another Friday Feature, and I'm pleased to introduce my homie and fellow artist, NAPRODAMUS. I met him about 2 years ago and we've done a couple shows together. He recently moved back to his home-state of Texas, and continues to share his love for music and hip hop culture. He also participated in the #OTDCypher2020 challenge on Instagram back in January, so I decided to bring him on the blog. Check out Naprodamus' full interview below:
1. What is your artist name?
Naprodamus 2. What city/state/country are you reppin’? Houston Texas and the whole Dirty 3rd 3. How old are you? 28 years old 4. How long have you been creating or making music? When did you start? Since at least 2008 I've been creating, but I've played guitar since I was a child.
5. What song/video/project are you currently promoting?
Right now I've got my single "P.O.S." (Piece Of Shit) out. I'm working on my main solo ep. titled "A.S.N." (Ain't Shit New) - with a few homies on there. Also the WFH has "The Forgotten Tapes" mixtape dropping before that as well as, my own personal rendition on chopped and screwed with "Throwed Off Tapes" which will feature only the finest of underground tracks. 6. What and/or who inspires you to write/create? Life, friends, family, really a little bit of everything inspires me to create but currently my desire to be the best version of myself. Looking after all the greats like Prince, Dimebag, Chappelle, Outkast, Three6, Sade, Guru, Pac, Havock, Erykah Badu, who continuously shown me what it means to stay true to self and the universe and push the boundaries of the mind, body, and soul. 7. What is your creative process like? All over the place. Haha, nah really it's cyclical. Right now I'm in the phase of recording, mixing, and mastering for these last few projects. I usually feel like I can't create or spend as much time as I'd like creating when I haven't finished projects. Then I’ll be in the cycle of actually writing and producing music. Really I hope to get to a point where I have a steady balance of everything.
8. How often do you perform live? Please state any upcoming performances you have.
Currently not as often as I would like but I'm making my way back. I’ve performed a lot of times during my time in Honolulu, HI, and recently started performing again here in Texas last month (February). 9. When did you start taking your music career seriously, and why? I think I have always been serious about my music career but I didn't really find the confidence and experience i needed until sometime after I joined the Army and went to Oahu. I attribute Hawaii to being a very significant factor in my growth as both an artist and a person. I actually started my Audio Engineering & Music Business education at University of Hawaii (UH), after I got out which gave me the added boost to get serious. 10. What do you want people to remember you for? I want them to remember that there’s more out there for us than we currently have the capacity to imagine and that love heals all. I dont personally care to be remembered but mainly the message and the mission, freeing and healing minds and souls, or more simply, giving people a different perspective.
11. What is your message?
Knowledge is power and the key to our truest evolution and awakening. No matter what you believe you will always have to deal with self first which is not a bad thing. It just is, but the more in tune you are with self the more in tune you are with all. And if you do truly have good intent at heart, this enables us to work together as a whole a lot better than we have. I believe it could bring us into a time we will all cherish and wish to make last as long as we can. 12. How can people find you? Please provide links to all of your social media. Primarily Instagram, Soundcloud, Spotify and Youtube. Soon will we be opening up our new website where we will host a variety- podcast, blogs, videos, music and what not.
